Fen have introduced cost-savings and low cost solutions into many aspects of our clients’ products and businesses
In the simplest cases that may involve component rationalisation or re-architecting embedded software to allow descaling of hardware requirements. It can also involve simplifying the complexity of the products journey through assembly, test, and the logistics of installation and commissioning.
Once the product is installed, good design can ensure further cost savings can be made in achieving high reliability along with minimal OPEX and support. In the case of connected or IoT products, good backend support systems, over-the-air (OTA) firmware & feature upgrades, and very lean/low-cost data communications protocols are examples of such cost saving opportunities.
Through selecting more future-proof design elements and modularising core product functions, savings can be made across current and future product portfolios. These savings can be achieved in all of the facets referenced above through economies of scale and common modes & practices.
A number of Fen’s clients have been able to generate additional revenue streams from what were previously considered to be the generally accepted costs and overheads of providing and supporting a product portfolio. This was realised, with Fen’s support, by taking cost out of their product offering, whilst at the same time delivering more than their competitors in terms of product specifications, features and benefits.
